Sarah Sparkes’ new commission, The GHost Formula, funded by FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) and Arts Council England, is part of the exhibition No Such Thing as Gravity curated by Rob La Frenais. The GHost Formula, is the artists visualisation of ghost research and is created to present as a ghost research area. The installation features a GHost Machine robot, inducing a feeling of presence, a library of ghost fiction and non fiction, a web interface for uploading ghost stories, ghost hunting equipment and various sculptural interventions.
The installation is in part at FACT and also at Williamson Tunnels, Liverpool. A GHost research has been created for FACT. The artist has created two ‘GHost Tunnels’ installed at both venues with the proposition that they are portals between each space.
Sparkes will be artist in residence for the duration of the exhibition, collecting Liverpool ghost stories and interviewing ghost researchers and Liverpool paranormal groups. In addition she will convene three of her Ghost Hostings and a Magic Lantern Ghost Show.
