I was delighted to be the recipient of the MERU Art*Science Award, III Edition (nominated by Rob La Frenais).  My film, Time You Need,<\/i>  was exhibited at GAMeC  (Gallery d\u2019Arte Moderna e Contemporanea) as part of the 13th<\/sup> Bergamo Science Festival.  The work has become part of GAMeC\u2019s permanent collection and entered the archives of the Fondazione Meru and the Association BergamoScienza.\u200b

Time You Need,<\/span><\/i> e<\/span>xplores the potential for consciousness to time-travel within the material limits of the human body. Using the symbolism of the portal and black hole, as they are conceptualised in both science and science fiction, the film presents a montage of narratives and documentation of performances and installations, which together with sonic and visual disruptions, create a liminal experience for the spectator.<\/span>
\nThe proposition is that one may find, herein, the time one needs.

The science adviser for this project was Pietro Reviglio.  Pietro’s expertise on black holes was invaluable.

For the third edition the jury<\/strong>, composed of Alessandro Medolago<\/strong> – President of Fondazione MERU; Alessandro Bettonagli<\/strong> – Associazione BergamoScienza and Giacinto Di Pietrantonio<\/strong> – Director of GAMeC, examined and appreciated all the projects presented by the candidates because of the quality of their artistic research, but chose the project by Sarah Sparkes <\/strong>\u2013 artist proposed by Rob La Frenais<\/strong>, independent curator \u2013 because of its visionary potential in investigating the subject of time and temporal \u201copenings\u201d, a topic that is as complex as it is topical in terms of both scientific and artistic research.<\/strong> The aim of this recognition is also to support the artist in experimenting with a language she is not accustomed to using but that can incorporate various aspects of her artistic practice.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

THE AWARD
\n<\/strong>The MERU ART*SCIENCE AWARD<\/strong> \u2013 born in 2013 from the collaboration of GAMeC \u2013 Galleria d\u2019Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo<\/strong>, the Fondazione MERU<\/strong> and the Associazione BergamoScienza<\/strong> \u2013 represents important acknowledgement aimed at underscoring the ties between art and science, awarding and supporting the work of an artist invited to present a project that probes the relationship between these two areas.According to the regulations, participation is strictly by invitation<\/strong>: for each edition, a selected group of artists<\/strong> \u2013 proposed by professionals in the field of contemporary art \u2013 must present a work that has never been shown before<\/strong>, conceived based on an assigned budget and specific requirements.The competing works must be linked with the mission of the Fondazione MERU \u2013 Fondazione Medolago-Ruggeri for biomedical research, a non-profit organization promoting scientific and biomedical research in the field of vascular biology<\/strong>. The foundation, based in Bergamo, promotes research projects with a strong social focus and closely connected with areas such as the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that strike us and cause physical, mental and emotional stress.

<\/p>\n

Invernomuto<\/strong> and Renaud Jerez<\/strong> were the winners of the first and the second edition of MERU ART*SCIENCE AWARD.<\/p>\n
