\nWInner of MERU Art*Science Award, III Edition (nominated by Rob La Frenais) exhibited at GAMeC (Gallery d\u2019Arte Moderna e Contemporanea) as part of the 13th Bergamo Science Festival. The video has entered GAMeC\u2019s permanent collection, the archives of the Fondazione Meru and the Association BergamoScienza.<\/span><\/p>\n

Time You Need, by Sarah Sparkes explores the potential for consciousness to time-travel within the material limits of the human body. Using the symbolism of the portal and black hole, as they are conceptualised in both science and science fiction, the film presents a montage of narratives and documentation of performances and installations, which together with sonic and visual disruptions, create a liminal experience for the spectator.
\nThe proposition is that one may find, herein, the time one needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the third edition the jury, composed of Alessandro Medolago \u2013 President of Fondazione MERU; Alessandro Bettonagli \u2013 Associazione BergamoScienza and Giacinto Di Pietrantonio \u2013 Director of GAMeC, examined and appreciated all the projects presented by the candidates because of the quality of their artistic research, but chose the project by Sarah Sparkes \u2013 artist proposed by Rob La Frenais, independent curator \u2013 because of its visionary potential in investigating the subject of time and temporal \u201copenings\u201d, a topic that is as complex as it is topical in terms of both scientific and artistic research. The aim of this recognition is also to support the artist in experimenting with a language she is not accustomed to using but that can incorporate various aspects of her artistic practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

This film was made as an edition of five. Three copies were purchased to enter the permanent collection of GAMeC (Gallery d\u2019Arte Moderna e Contemporanea), the archives of the Fondazione Meru and the Association BergamoScienza. Each copy comes in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity.<\/span><\/p>\n
